Ingredients
Scale
For Homemade Biscuits
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
6 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cubed
¾ cup buttermilk
For Serving (Optional)
Butter for brushing (melted)
Honey, jam, or gravy
Shortcut Option
1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (like Pillsbury)
Frozen biscuits (adjust cook time as needed)
Instructions
Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter, fork, or your hands until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Slowly add the buttermilk and mix gently until a soft dough forms.
Roll & Cut the Biscuits: Lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough to ½-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter or a round glass to cut out biscuits. Gather scraps and repeat until all dough is used.
Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). If your air fryer doesn’t require preheating, skip this step.
Air Fry the Biscuits: Place biscuits in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they don’t touch. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve & Enjoy: Brush the warm biscuits with melted butter and serve immediately. Enjoy with honey, jam, butter, or even sausage gravy!
Notes
Cold butter is key! Keeping the butter cold helps create flaky layers.
Don’t overmix the dough—this keeps the biscuits light and tender.
Spacing matters! Leave room in the air fryer basket so air circulates evenly.
For extra flavor, brush biscuits with melted butter or sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 325°F for 2–3 minutes to crisp them back up.
