We used to always make them on the stove top and ugh… SUCH a mess. Well, not anymore because our air fryer is now our BESTIE when it comes to quick morning food!

These Sausage Patties are a breakfast lifesaver! I usually pair them with Air Fryer Hash Browns, a hearty Brioche French Toast Casserole, or a batch of Pumpkin Banana Muffins.

Why Air Frying is a GAME CHANGER for Sausage

Honestly, before trying it, I thought “Can sausage be better in an air fryer?” YES! My friends the result is so much BETTER! We were hooked since day ONE, The main reasons I would recommend this:

❤️
  • No greasy MESS Because it cooks with circulating air, you don’t have oil splattering everywhere. IT’S SO CLEAN and such a big plus. This is why i started cooking breakfast every weekend.
  • It’s FAST  Compared to pan-frying, your patties get hot in record time. Like we’re talking 15 to 20 MINUTES TOTAL depending on how cold your sausage is to start with.
  • Super Crispy Texture:  They just get SO much crispier, especially on the edges which I always loved on the sausages from diners growing up, now its super easy to replicate. My little ones actually like that and FINALLY eat with enthusiasm haha.

  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Air Fryer

How To Make sausage patties in air fryer

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Usually, that only takes about 5 mins in my air fryer (so basically WHILE you get your sausages out).
  2. Arrange the sausage patties in the air fryer basket, make sure to leave a little bit of space in between each, don’t put them on top of each other.
  3. Cook for about 10-12 MINUTES, Flip them over halfway to make them extra crispy on all sides (if you are doing FROZEN patties add a little extra 3 mins, like so 7 min, flip, another 7 mins)
  4. Check for done-ness– make sure internal temperature gets to 165°F (74°C) just like any cooked meat, if they need another MINUTE or two keep them cooking
  5. Serve IMMEDIATELY ! I serve this usually with waffles or hashbrowns because why not!. BAM! Delicious.

My TIPS and Variations

Using Frozen Sausages: No worries, the times and everything else stays exactly the SAME! It’s SO easy. Frozen stuff comes out GREAT too!

Get creative with Spices: You can toss some spices or herbs before or after your cooking! My personal FAVE combination? A lil sprinkle of chili flakes and dried oregano. YUM

Get to the Next Level: My sister-in-law actually does this, she puts some cheese slices during the last MINUTE of air frying so it melts all perfectly on the top. (it adds another little bit to the whole mess factor though, so do it at your own risk).

Storing Leftover Sausage Patties

  • Cool Them Down: Make sure you let them cool COMPLETELY to avoid condensation. We’re talking not even warm a lil, cold all the way down.
  • Proper Storage Grab a air tight container or put them into some plastic food bags with all the air squeezed out.
  • Keep Refrigerated Keep your cooked patties in the fridge up to 3 or 4 days, make sure the temp is the safe cooking temperatures, usually I will do the smell test myself if it lasted that long haha
  • Freezing Cooked patties can last a long time (usually 3 to 4 MONTHS if you store in the freezer. For those always thinking ahead.

There ya have it! Seriously easy sausage, quick prep time, and very little clean-up afterwards. No need to stand near a stove when air frying exists, ha. If you don’t have one, TRUST ME you will find this life changing!! Hope this guide gets your sausage to the PERFECT crispy level every single time! Happy breakfast!
