Healthy and naturally refreshing Costa Rican tea for weight loss made by simmering pineapple core with ginger, lemongrass, and cinnamon, then finishing with mint, turmeric, and citrus. It’s caffeine free, low sugar, and perfect hot or iced, making it an easy daily detox drink that supports lighter living.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pineapple core, chopped
  • inch fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 2 stalks lemongrass, bases crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 tbsp fresh mint (optional)
  • 1 thin slice turmeric or ¼ tsp ground
  • 1 tsp dried hibiscus (optional for iced version)
  • 6 cups water
  • Lemon or lime wedges, to finish
  • 12 tsp chan or chia gel per glass (optional)
  • Sweetener, minimal and optional

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients. Add water, pineapple core, ginger, lemongrass, and cinnamon to a pot.
  2. Simmer. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer for 12–15 minutes.
  3. Add herbs. Remove from heat, add mint, turmeric, and optional hibiscus.
  4. Steep. Cover and steep for 5–10 minutes.
  5. Strain. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a jug.
  6. Flavor. Add lemon or lime to taste.
  7. Serve. Enjoy hot or chilled over ice.
  8. Optional. Stir in 1–2 tsp soaked chan or chia gel per glass for texture.
  9. Sweeten only if needed.

Notes

Use ripe pineapple for natural sweetness and skip extra sugar.
• Slice ginger thin so it infuses faster and brighter.
• Add mint and turmeric after simmering to keep their color and aroma.
• For iced tea, steep with hibiscus for a ruby hue and chill completely.
• Strain through cheesecloth for a clear, smooth finish.
• Keep refrigerated up to 4 days; add citrus and gel right before serving.
• 100% herbal and naturally caffeine free.
