This chocolate biscotti is rich, crisp, and perfect for dunking into coffee, tea, or wine. With cocoa powder and chocolate chips, this classic twice-baked Italian cookie is indulgent yet easy to make at home.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup mini chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined.
  4. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Divide dough in half and shape into two logs (about 14 x 3 inches) on the baking sheet, spaced apart. Smooth tops with greased hands.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until puffed and firm. Remove and let logs cool completely.
  7. Using a serrated knife, slice logs diagonally into 1-inch slices. Place cut side up back on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake slices 15-20 minutes, turning once halfway through, until crisp. Let cool fully before serving.

Notes

  • Cool logs fully before slicing to avoid crumbling.
  • For extra crunch, bake slices a few minutes longer during the second bake.
  • Dip or drizzle with melted white or dark chocolate for a festive finish.
  • Store biscotti in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze for 2 months.
