Description

Easy chili cheese dip recipe that’s spicy, cheesy, and perfect for game days or parties! Serve with chips for a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce) can of chili (with or without beans)
  • 1 (8-ounce) package of cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: chopped green onions, sour cream, jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Get Creamy:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until smooth and creamy.

  2. The Chili Splash:
Open the can of chili and give it a quick stir to distribute the ingredients evenly. Spread a layer of chili over the cream cheese mixture.

  3. Combine Everything:
Gently mix the chili into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined.

  4. Transfer to Baking Dish:
Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish or cast-iron skillet. Spread evenly and top with the remaining cup of cheddar cheese.

  5. Bake It:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the dip for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.

  6. Add Toppings:
Let the dip cool for 5 minutes before adding optional toppings like green onions, sour cream, or jalapeños. Serve with tortilla chips or your favorite dippers!

Notes

  • Use Fresh Cheese: Freshly shredded cheddar melts better and tastes richer than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Pick Your Chili: Use your favorite canned chili—vegetarian, spicy, or with beans—to suit your preference.
  • Customize Toppings: Add jalapeños for heat, green onions for freshness, or sour cream for a creamy contrast.
  • Make It Ahead: Prep the dip, refrigerate, and bake when ready to serve. Just add 5 extra minutes to the baking time if chilled.
  • Serving Options: Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, breadsticks, or veggie sticks for a variety of dipping choices.
