Ingredients
Scale
- Unsalted Butter 1/2 cup (melted)
- Brown Sugar 1/2 cup (100 g)
- Granulated Sugar 1/4 cup (50 g)
- Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
- Egg 1 large
- All-Purpose Flour 1 1/4 cups (150 g)
- Baking Soda 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt 1/4 teaspoon
- Chocolate Chips 1 cup (175 g)
- Optional Add-Ins White chocolate chips, sprinkles, or chopped candy bars.
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8–9-inch skillet (or a heart-shaped skillet for festive occasions) with butter or non-stick spray.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and egg, whisking until fully combined.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips or your preferred add-ins.
- Prepare the Skillet: Scoop the cookie dough into the skillet and spread it evenly. Add extra chocolate chips or sprinkles on top for decoration.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is just set. Avoid overbaking for a gooey center.
- Cool and Serve: Let the cookie cool in the skillet for about 5 minutes before serving. Slice or enjoy straight from the skillet with spoons!
Notes
- Don’t Overmix the Dough: Overmixing can lead to a dense cookie. Mix just until the dry ingredients are combined for a soft and chewy texture.
- Use Good Quality Chocolate: Whether you choose semi-sweet, milk, or dark chocolate, high-quality chocolate makes a huge difference in flavor.
- Customize Your Toppings: Add sprinkles, nuts, peanut butter chips, or even chunks of your favorite candy bar for a personalized touch.
- Grease Your Skillet Well: Ensure the skillet is properly greased to prevent sticking and make slicing easy.
- Slightly Underbake for Gooey Goodness: Remove the skillet cookie from the oven when the edges are golden but the center is still slightly soft. It will continue to cook as it cools, leaving the center perfectly gooey.
