Description

Garlic Parmesan Focaccia Bread is soft, airy, and easy to make. Made with olive oil, garlic, and Parmesan, it bakes up golden and crispy every time.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (one packet)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon dry minced garlic (or fresh minced garlic)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or rosemary/thyme)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and minced garlic.
  2. Add the Wet Ingredients
Pour in the warm water and olive oil, then mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  3. Prepare the Baking Dish
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil. Once the dough has risen, transfer it to the dish and gently stretch it to fill the pan. Use your fingertips to dimple the surface of the dough.
  4. Add Toppings
Drizzle olive oil over the top, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, dried parsley, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Preheat and Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F while the dough rests for a few minutes. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Yeast – If your yeast does not foam when mixed with warm water, it may be inactive. Use fresh yeast for the best rise.
  • Dimple the Dough Well – Pressing deep dimples into the dough helps trap the olive oil and toppings, giving focaccia its signature texture.
  • Let It Rise Properly – Allowing the dough to double in size ensures a light, airy texture.
  • Use High-Quality Olive Oil – The richness of good olive oil enhances the flavor and creates the perfect crispy crust.
  • Customize Your Toppings – Try adding rosemary, flaky sea salt, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
